Tutorial Exchange - How to Make a Finger Hook

http://heartsandsharts.com/fun-with-sculpey-photo-holder-and-a-finger-hook/
Two projects made with versatile Sculpey

Tutorial at Hearts and Sharts Blog

"So, I love Sculpey. My first experience with it was in college. We were supposed to create something with “minuscule movement”. Naturally, I jacked around for several days and then had a great idea two days before the project was due. So I made this thing. You might have seen it on my about page. It’s a severed hand made of Sculpey and wire with a clock motor inside that is attached to a real (dead) fly.  You know how the second hand of a clock sometimes gets stuck in that one spot and it just twitches?  I found that sweet spot, and attached an un-smashed dead fly on it so it looked like it was creepily twitching on a bloody severed hand.  My creepy art teacher called me creepy….and gave me an A. Sculpey was kind enough to send me some of their goods in exchange for a tutorial and I totally lost my head and made, like, six things. I’ve got two of ‘em to show you today".... Read more

"I don't really consider myself a stylish person. I might have a cute shirt or sweatshirt or dress, but it takes a considerable amount of effort to really pull off a great outfit that is comfy and cute. But, that rarely  happen, because comfy usually wins. Anyway, along with my love of scarfs, I also love tights. I probably have as many tights as I do scarfs. Seriously. They're great because they're usually inexpensive and take up little space. Plus they can add a pop of color to any outfit; basically it works as great as a scarf. But the best part is....I don't have to shave".... Read more

"I managed to surprise myself and finish the pillow covers for our family room makeover in just under two weeks. And it wasn’t the only project on my plate (or actually, my desk). I’m actually getting better at planning my sewing projects in a way that they actually get done. I used to wait until I knew I had a couple of free days to start and finish a sewing project, but I’ve realized that I can’t wait for vacation (or sick days, for that matter) if I want to get anything done. This time I split the project into several tasks (cutting, pressing, sewing etc.) and did each one on a separate night. I didn’t try to push the work too late (sleep is important!), and I got it all done in about 4 nights, without exhausting myself entirely. I think that this worked well and I will continue working in the same way in the future".... Read more

"It’s become a bit of a tradition that when one of my friends has a first baby, I make a couple of these crinkly taggie baby toys. It’s a known fact that babies frequently prefer playing with non-playthings, so you’ll find them having fun with the toy’s packaging instead of the toy or the tag on the toy instead of the toy’s other features. And thus was born the Taggie, which is actually a registered trademark. These things are really so simple to make. All you have to do is sew folded ribbons into the seams of the object. I make these taggies hanky-sized so that they’re easy for baby to handle and with a special upcycled something inside to make a fascinating (at least for baby) crinkle noise. Here’s how to make a couple of these in 15 minutes or so, getting rid of scraps of fabric and ribbons and making new mom and baby happy".... Read more

Miniature alpine landscape to chase away winter blues

Tutorial at The Chilly Dog Blog

"During the holidays I received two gifts that I knew would be great for creating a new fairy garden. The first was a miniature Italian Stone Pine tree (which I may have over-watered a bit because I have a bad habit of thinking water = love with plants). The second was a bottle of maple syrup. Even though I received these gifts from different people, they seemed like a perfect pairing for an Alpine themed fairy garden.  I've been scouting my yard for the perfect spot to create my miniature landscape and finally settled on a large clay pot near our fire pit"....
