Tutorial - How to Doily Stencil a Cushion

http://www.pillarboxblue.com/how-to-doily-stencil-a-cushion/
Transform plain cushions into something fabulous

Tutorial at Pillar Box Blue Blog

"I gave my outdoor canvas cushions a bit of a makeover by using a doilies as stencils to paint pretty patterns on them. I loved this craft. It was so easy to do. My favourite kind of craft, cheap, fun and little effort for great results. I warn you it is very addictive as the cushions are so lovely. I know I’m going to end up with too many cushions outside now.   You might remember a couple of weeks ago I made some Map Table Mats. When I was putting them away in the kitchen with all my other table stuff, such as paper napkins and cloths, I struggled to shut the draw. It was time for a clear out! Firstly I discovered that I must stop buying paper napkins no matter how pretty they are. Secondly I found right at the bottom a packet of paper doilies".... Read more

Tutorial -Turn Image into a Decal for Reverse Stenciling

http://acraftymix.com/blog/2016/05/16/easy-decal-diy/
Decorate something special with a decal transfer

Tutorial at A Crafty Mix Blog

"Decals and stencils are one of the easiest ways to add beautiful detail to furniture but they can be very expensive and 9 times out of 10 I can’t find what I’m looking for anyway so I decided to make my own. I know, I know I could’ve bought a Silhouette or Cricut to make a decal but I don’t have that kind of money and I’m guessing you might not either".... Read more

Instructions on how to make your own 'freezer paper' and stencils

Tutorial at Nina Makes Blog

"I have seen so many great projects for ‘Freezer Paper’ stencils!  But we don’t have freezer paper in NZ.  Well that’s not quite true you can order it online by the meter for a small fortune.  But I like to be able to do things pretty much straight away, without having to wait for orders, not to mention pay for them!  I learned how to laminate tissue paper to cardboard to make a card at a Farmlands Ladies Night, I thought why not to fabric".... http://www.cutesimplestuff.com/2015/07/diy-roses-stencil-stamped-top.html
Easy, affordable and effective way to refashion a top

Tutorial at Cute Simple Stuff Blog

"This top right here was one of my faves, it´s just one of those tops that is so comfy you can sleep on it, but so versatile you can dress it up with some necklace, a nice hairstyle and some heels, and you are good to go. BUT it got bleach stained, maybe it was a splash from when I was doing my laundry, sad moment, and I was just about to give up any hope on using is again, but then I thought of “saving it” by adding some stenciled pretty roses, stamping them. And I love the result".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Lego Figure Stenciled Shirts

http://plentyofpaprika.blogspot.com/2014/08/diy-lego-figure-stencil-shirts.html
Tutorial includes stencils for boy and girl figures

Tutorial at Plenty of Paprika Blog

"Last week we started a new homeschool year and to celebrate, we made Homeschool Is Awesome Lego T-shirts.  I made a really simple stencil and it worked great, however I was inspired by my friend's little girl who wanted hair on her Lego figure to improve the stencil design. This time, instead of one big stencil, I broke it down to parts for easy customization. Also, we had issues with paint showing through when the hair was added to the Lego head, after the Lego head was painted. Fixed that as well, with 3 head designs  - hair and face fitting together like a puzzle and a simple block head. We tried it out and my kids really liked how they turned out".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Stencil a Gift Box

http://creativekhadija.com/2014/07/gift-box-design-stenciling-technique/
You'll need a stencil, foam brush, and paint

Tutorial at Creative Khadija Blog

"My family and friends are always expecting something arty/crafty from me & this is kind of a hard Task always! Well I handle anyway..haha. Gift Packing and gift box designing is a really important thing when you are gifting, a person who is going to open the box will be definitely first reviewing the packing. So its necessary to work on the gift pack/wrap before giving it away! a ready-made packing with printed paper sheet wraps is also good but will may be not that impressive as something compared to any hand designed packing! making some hand designed gift wraps are not difficult, just a few time is needed with a little bit of creativity..So this is what I did before gifting some goodies to one of my friend".... Tutorial - How to Make Your Own Stencil

http://www.serendipitini.com/?p=869
Using an electric stencil cutter and Mylar sheet

Tutorial at Serendipitini Blog

"In my work with making coasters I had to change how I made the coasters from stamped in permanent ink to stenciled and fired in a kiln due to the fact that my tile supplier stopped carrying the stone tile I was using. Because I make so many different dog breed designs, I wanted to find a way to quickly cut stencils.  The cheapest way is to use an X-acto knife on a plastic stencil sheet. All you do is trace the design onto the plastic with a permanent or you can place a line drawing of the design under the plastic sheet and cut on top of it. Make sure to put protective cardboard or a cutting board beneath your work and work on a sturdy table. The draw back of this is it is tedious and it is difficult to cut fine lines. You may cut past corners by mistake".... Read more

Free cut file for creating an April Showers art work

Tutorial at Mabey She Made It Blog

"A lot of you have probably seen this decor available at Target –I know it’s been popular.  I love how fresh it is and the ombre look. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to create something inspired by it. At first, I was going to do hearts and a red background for Valentine’s Day–didn’t happen. Then I thought I’d do shamrocks, but who am I kidding–I don’t decorate for St. Patrick’s Day. Then one day I was driving, and I noticed how the blue sky did this same thing–darker at the horizon and lighter the further up I looked. There were a few fluffy clouds in the sky, and I knew I’d found the perfect mix of inspiration–April Showers".... Read more

http://thesweetescape.ca/2014/03/diy-giveaway-gold-lettered-vintage-plates.html
Use a permanent marker or gold paint if you prefer

Tutorial at The Sweet Escape Blog

"I’m a sucker for vintage houseware, it’s a bit of a problem. I can’t pass up a beautifully designed colourful vintage plate, especially when they’re just orphans laying all by themselves in the thrift shop. So I have this small collection that’s hanging around and I thought it would be the perfect background for a gold monogram. Hey, when you do three monogram plates it becomes a word, like EAT".... Tutorial shows how to get a layered ombre look

Tutorial at Mabey She Made It Blog

"Have you ever seen something and known it was meant for you? The moment I saw this arch, I knew it was mine–it just needed a little makeover! I have a definite passion for arches and I knew a contemporary design would make the shape shine. When I saw the Stencil1 stencil and FolkArt Multi-surface paint (which is good for indoor, outdoor, and even in the dishwasher!), I knew they were going to be the perfect complement for my beloved arch, which is fairly large and needed a bigger design. I also loved that I could repeat and layer sections of the stencil to make the piece larger–I’m thinking walls or floors would be awesome with this design".... Read more

He likes globes and maps and part of his office decoration consist of a world map and a nice 6 (and counting) globe collection. His t-shirt was part of my handmade Xmas present series but didn't include it in my previous post as I wanted to put together a little tutorial for this one.  All you need to create your own world map tee is: freezer paper, craft knife  and puffy fabric paint".... Tutorial - How to Use the Trace Feature on a Silhouette Cameo

Die cutting tool can used to cut customized decals or stencils

Trace FeatureTutorial at The Chilly Dog Blog

"I am still finding some hidden gems in the software that make me love my Cameo even more.  Recently I discovered the "Trace" feature and have been experimenting with it. The idea is that you can open an image file with the software and trace around it. It didn't impress me much until I tried it out. Ultimately, the trace feature allows you to create a die cut of virtually any image. That's powerful".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Stencil with Photocopy Paper Wrapper

Reuse a wrapper that is readily available worldwide

Stencil Tutorial at Off Square Blog

"There are oodles of tutorials online about how to stencil fabric with freezer paper.  They all look fabulous and give you an easy way to personalise tshirts, baby onesies, bags … the list is endless. Alas, there have been many frustrating hours spent hunting for freezer paper in New Zealand, only to find it both rare and ridiculously expensive.  Would you believe that what sells for $4 in the US has sold for as much as $24 here?!  That makes me feel ill. But, despair no more, my loyal Offsquare friends (I know you’ve all been kept awake each night wondering how you’ll ever do a freezer paper stencil without paying for airfares to the US first … or is that just me?), I have the answer you’ve all been looking for.  Plus, it’s thrifty AND upcycled".... This design works on mens size large to a babies onsie

Bow Tie Tutorial at Sisters, Sisters Blog

"My Dad and brother share a birthday and they both love to wear bow ties, so I thought it'd be fun to make them some shirts with bow ties on it. Basically they can now wear bow ties when they're relaxing, working in the yard, playing with the kids/grandkids, etc.  I used my favorite freezer paper and fabric paint method, which is really easy and fun to make many designs on shirts with. Of course, after making them shirts, I also had to make one for the little guy".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Burlap Shopping Bag

Stencil a favorite saying on your bag with fabric paint

Shopping Bag Tutorial at The Chilly Dog Blog

"I've used my own shopping bags since before reusable shopping bags were cool. Everyone in our house has a set of five or six large shopping bags in the trunk of their car for grocery shopping. I made the first set of bags about ten years ago and they have carried countless loaves of bread, cartons of eggs, boxes of cereal and more. Unfortunately, they are starting to show their age and are getting a little threadbare in spots.  So, it was time to for a new set. My requirements? I wanted to make something sturdy, inexpensive and a little fun. Grocery shopping doesn't have to be boring".... Read more
