Tutorial - How to Make Colorful Hoop Earrings

http://www.jewelsofsayuri.com/2015/06/DIY-Colorful-hoop-earrings.html
Alternately, wear the hoops bare or wire wrap the entire frame for something more ornate

Tutorial at Jewels of Sayuri Blog

"Recently I had made colorful hoop earrings and worn them to college one day and a colleague who saw them, immediately pointed out excitedly to a group of students saying -"Look she's wearing poppins" and grinned playfully. Soon people gathered around me trying to look at the colors and basically play with my earrings and I was reminded of a giggling group of kids looking at a roll of poppins for the first time in their lives. And that's how, my beautiful Ladies, these earrings got their name".... Read more

Tutorial - Recycle a Shirt for Quilting

http://joysjotsshots.blogspot.com/2015/06/deboning-stripping-shirt-making-strips.html
A way to efficiently and quickly cut apart a shirt

Tutorial at Joy's, Jots, Shots & Whatnots Blog

"I started a memory quilt from 4 of Dad's shirts last July while I was staying with my Mother when she became very ill. I decided I would make the Wonky Log Cabin for this quilt, because I wouldn't have to carry my rotary cutter and board with me to Mother's since strips do not have to be precisely cut.  As when cutting up a chicken, there is no "right" way to cut apart a shirt, it's just your way.  You want to turn out the most usable fabric as possible.  This is how I cut strips out of Dad's shirts".... Tutorial - Make a Patriotic Pillow Cover

http://olives-n-okra.com/patriotic-throw-pillows-/
Easy patriotic throw pillows using fabric remnants and fiberfill

Tutorial at Olives-n-Okra Blog

"I had several pieces of fabric leftover from my Patriotic Rag Wreath. The fabric color scheme didn’t match the colors I picked for the wreath, so I thought I could use them to make Patriotic Throw Pillows.  I don’t have a pattern for the throw pillows. I simple shored up my material and made each pair of contrasting fabric the same size, stitched about a 5/8-inch seam on 3 sides of the material and about 2/3 of the last side, then stuffed the pillows with handfuls of polyester fiberfill. Simone helped me sew by pressing her two little feet on the sewing machine foot pedal until she got tired. Then she helped stuff pillows until that bored her".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Light Up Floral Garland

http://www.latelywithkatie.com/light-up-floral-garland/
Add oomph to light strands for home decor

Tutorial at Lately with Katie Blog

"I’m really excited about this post. I love twinkly lights. They are on my favorite things list. My sister and I have a constant favorite list of simple things that make us happy. Examples: tiny rainbows, iced coconut coffee from Brueggers (summer in a cup), dainty tea cups, succulents, decanters, antique keys (like the kind from Cinderella) and more silly things that make you smile inside. The list goes on, but twinkly lights are definitely in the top five. I came up with this garland idea to give my fireplace a little fix up. You could use this idea for weddings, a home built bar (example in post), above your bed, or as I did, above your fireplace".... Read more

Tutorial - Alter a Skirt for Maternity Wear

http://www.bobbinsonmymind.co.uk/sewing/tutorial/grainline-moss-skirt-a-maternity-tutorial/
No zipper or interfacing needed for this alteration

Tutorial at Bobbins on My Mind Blog

"I think for about 8 months of the year my uniform is generally a moss skirt, tights and boots. I love it. It’s comfy, it goes with basically all my tops, it’s stylish but not too formal, and it uses barely any fabric. What’s NOT to love?! So naturally I had to find a way to continue this habit throughout being pregnant. And here is the solution I’ve come up with! Two different solutions in fact, depending on your preferences!  Making the Moss bump-friendly is a pretty simple adjustment, and if anything it makes the moss easier to sew than usual. But I’d mentioned it in this post, so I thought I’d explain what I done. So here we go".... Read more

Tutorial - Make a Tropical Garden Plant

http://plumperfectandme.blogspot.com/2015/06/faux-silver-vase-bromeliad-diy.html
Everlasting bloom crafted with man made materials

Tutorial at Purple Hues and Me Blog

"The Silver Vase (Aechmea Fasciata- native to Brazil) Bromeliad is one of my favorite tropical garden plants.  It's spikey pink flower is so striking and unusual.  This time of the year you'll see lots of silver vase bromeliad plants in garden centers and in commercial landscaping, both indoors and out.  The sad part about this plant is that once it blooms the plant slowly dies. But fortunately, after flowering, each plant produces offsets called pups which can grow into more mature plants.  But blooming again - that's a whole different story on what you need to do to make this happen, so I decided to make my own "forever silver vase bromeliad flower"..... Tutorial at Fleur de Lis Quilts Blog

"Today I made a couple of hooded beach towels for the little granddaughters.  They love to go to the beach or to Mim's house to swim.  A school of fish, they are.  Tracking pool water into the house is an idea few of the adults appreciate.  So I thought I'd help just a little by making some hooded towels.  And to help you, I thought I'd write a tutorial that explains how I did this".... Make a 4th of July treat with this easy recipe

Tutorial at Happier than a Pig in Mud Blog

"The minute I saw the Oreo Fudge that Bloggy Buddy Liz made I bookmarked it. The only thing is, I'm one of the two people in the world that's not fond of Oreo's... So, I could either sub the cookies with chocolate chip cookies or opt to leave them out entirely. I went with the latter and coated the top with red, white and blue jimmies. This Fourth of July Fudge truly is ridiculously easy to make and can be changed up for any holiday simply by using color coordinated jimmies or candy on the top. I think you'll like it if you try it folks".... Read more
