Tutorial - Make a Fruit Bowl with a Palm Leaf

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/how-hack-fab-fruit-bowl/
Use a good glossy opaque paint in a bold color to highlight the  natural lines of the leaf

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"This hack is a fruit bowl made from a Palm tree leaf, called a Sepal. Lynn Pavey came up with this idea after finding a Sepal when out walking and then spying her unfinished tin of exterior house paint.  It really doesn’t require much skill, just a bit of painting. Of course, if you don’t live anywhere remotely near palm trees, it might be difficult. But, it might inspire you to look twice at those sculptural natural forms we find on the ground when out walking in nature. Sepals make beautiful pieces to display on a side table, as a centrepiece, or on a mantel".... Read more

Tutorial - Add a Fake Camisole to an Existing Blouse

http://www.threadingmyway.com/2015/10/add-fake-camisole-to-existing-blouse.html
Keeps you modest, cool, and comfortable at the same time

Tutorial at Threading My Way Blog

"I've had this blue blouse for ages. Made from a thin cotton, most probably voile or lawn, it's lightweight and comfortable - perfect for warm weather. Only problem is, the front is a tad too low, meaning I always have to wear a singlet or camisole underneath. That's fine on cool days, but in warm weather, the singlet makes it too hot to wear".... http://www.threadingmyway.com/2015/11/dots-and-boxes-game.html
You can play this pencil and paper game anywhere, at anytime

Tutorial at Threading My Way Blog

"I love playing games with the kids, but I needed a break from Uno and Checkers, so thought I'd teach them how to play Dots and Boxes - a simple pencil and paper game, so nothing to buy.  We used to play Dots and Boxes when we were kids and it's just as relevant today. I keep reading about the need to limit screen time for kids. It's important that children realize that games can be played without a computer / iPad / phone, etc. And, it's absolutely essential that they learn to play games they can play with their peers".... Tutorial - Make Fabric Covered Foam Bowls and Boxes

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/photo-tutorial-foam-bowls-and-boxes/
You can make various shaped containers

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"These colourful containers were created by Guest Presenter Lynn Pavey. She made them from ‘dollar shop’ craft foam and fabric offcuts. They are handy lightweight containers that can be used for containing anything (fruit, coloured pencil stash, stationery bits, or party treats (lollies, wrapped chocolates, serviettes).  Lynn has also figured out a way of using the colours in the mixed foam sheets pack that aren’t your first pick. As you’ll see if you team the tone with the just the right fabric, it can look sensational. Sometimes it doesn’t need to match, just harmonise, to look right. Give it a try, and test your own shapes".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Clay Pens

http://www.thechillydog.com/2015/10/tutorial-clay-pens.html
Discover how simple it is to create a clay pen, and make one in every color of the rainbow

Tutorial at The Chilly Dog Blog

"After I made my clay crochet hook handles, I started thinking about all the different things I could make using the same technique. The most exciting idea to me, since I am an obsessive writer and list maker, was pens. At first, I tried covering some cheap plastic pens. It worked fine, but once you add the clay on the outside, you can no longer cap the pen. Too messy! So I did a little investigation and found some twisty pen inserts online. These are designed for wood workers, but work perfectly for clay projects as well...." Read more

Tutorial - How to Make an Upcycled Sweater Mountain

http://www.pillarboxblue.com/upcycled-sweater-mountain-cushion/
Felt some old sweaters, and upcycle them into snow topped mountain cushions

Tutorial at Pillarboxblue Blog

"My husband and boys make an annual mountain climbing pilgrimage. They have now climbed all the major peaks in the UK, so will probably venture abroad for their next trip. We also all love to ski & snowboard especially in the Alps. However our favourite mountains are those in Norway, we love the stunning fjords where the mountains meet the sea.   When upcycling my sweaters into cushions I decided that I would turn them into my own little mountain range, as reminder of what I’m missing".... Tutorial - Make Kraft Paper Flowers and Leaves

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/hack-fast-kraft-flowers-and-leaves/
Use to wrap gifts, as centerpieces, place settings, etc.

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"I discovered this short cut to making kraft paper flowers and leaves. Instead of using kraft paper in sheets, I used paper gardening twine from Bunnings (Australia’s big box hardware store).  The bio-degradable twine is used to tie a plant to a stake. It also flattens out to about 10cm wide and looks like crumpled kraft paper. Creating the leaves is dead easy and they only need a bit of minor trimming. For the flowers, I just played around with creating petals and the flower centre".... Read more

Tutorial at Akamatras Blog

"Fall is the part of the year when I enjoy crocheting the most! It's always nice to have time to sit on your couch and crochet a warm blanket, a beanie, or a couple of dozes cup cozies! Only this year I am not alone. Nope, this year I have company near me on the couch! A little furry mister called Mini the cat. I've wrote all about him here but I am not sure if I stressed out how much of a yarn thief this little guy is! He is going into battle as I write these lines with one of my crochet bows! I mean he LOVES to play with it!  However I have a business to run and I can't have cat hair all over my crochet items".... Read more

A form of sculpting where strips of paper are dipped in paste and layered to harden on a form

Tutorial at Borei Design Blog

"Faux animal busts appear to be popping up everywhere at some of my favorite home décor stores. I haven’t really given much thought to the trend until I saw the adorable papier-mâché editions at Anthropolgie. Inspiration struck when I was admiring the picture of the Plains Traveler Bust Elephant. An elephant’s trunk when raised makes a natural hook where you can hang practically anything. When you add a fun pattern to the mix, you have the makings of an awesome wall accent piece that is both functional and decorative".... Read more
