Abakhan Fabrics, Hobby and Home
is offering a free pack of multi colored feathers to 3-5 Totally Tutorials readers who are willing to create a
unique piece utilizing the material. The recipients of the feathers would
then share how their project
was done by posting a tutorial on their blog. The tutorials will also
be posted on the Totally Tutorials blog, and may be linked to the Abakhan site as well.
The feathers (including shipping) will be free to those chosen to create the tutorial.
If
you are interested in creating a unique piece with these feathers, please
post a comment after this post with the URL to your blog or website. The ideal
candidate will be someone with a blog
or website, experience in making tutorials, and the ability to take nice
photos.
Applications will be accepted through Thursday, September 20th. I will contact the winners of the exchange on Friday, September 21st. The winners will then have until October 12th to complete their tutorials.
Please only leave one comment. It will be posted after I approve it.

There are so many things you could do with such a product, but my first thought was a fascinator or hair decoration of some sort. Www.threadjam.weebly is my website, and you can find me on facebook as well, search for ThreadJam. There are lots of pictures of my work, i believe the pictures i take are clear and represent my work well.

As soon as I saw these feathers, I knew exactly what I would make; something fun, attractive, and wearable.

I adore feathers and would use them in a mixed media art quilt. I would begin with several layers of fabric, then add the feathers as embellishments. I see this as a fun opportunity to show what "real" quilters can make when they just want to have some fun play time.

Mostly I've just been sharing recipes I've created myself (with the exception of a couple from family) and I just published a knitting pattern. I'd love to get into tutorials. :)
I have used feathers for some of the fascinators I've recently made, but since I love creating bags, I'd certainly use them for a kind of romantic vintage purse. I have only one tutorial in my blog, but I have prepared many for my friends (and I will provide it in Spanish and English!)

Thanks!!!!!
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI love making up tutorials and posting them! This is my blog:
http://shadesoftangerine.blogspot.com/
And here's what I would make:
I would glue several feathers to the eraser portion of a pencil- or ink pen, then wrap the eraser in ribbon to cover the feather tips and embellish with a few rhinestones or beads.
The finished product would be a fun school supply, an elegant pen for a wedding guest book, or a great pencil to keep at a reception desk (Its hard for people to accidentally walk away with a fully feather pencil).
The feathers look like so much fun! I think I would make either some sort of hair pretty, pin or something for an upcoming holiday. Lots of possibilities and ideas running through my head!

If this offer is still open, I would love to use these feathers in a tutorial for hair decorations and fancy brooches.
