Crochet a quick cover for your 4-inch plants

Tutorial at The Inspired Wren Blog

"We've been in the pool every day for the better part of two weeks, and yet school supplies have been purchased, sewing of the annual backpack is underway, and this is also happening in my backyard. Fall is on our minds if not in the air. I decided to work up a little Autumnal spiral cable-inspired sweater for my plants (I'm saving those the adorable bunnies from the inspiration pic for Spring). The first version took me a solid afternoon while I stopped every other row and checked that the cover fit properly...and frogged and restitched until it did. The second flew off the hook in one evening of television watching/listening" Read more

http://cassiescreativecrafts.blogspot.com/2013/09/chicka-chicka-boom-boom-coconut-tree.html
This craft begins with a recycled paper towel roll

Tutorial at Cassie's Creative Crafts Blog

"I want to share something that my son and I made together this weekend. He loves the book "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" by Bill Martin Jr. Here is a picture of the book. This book has been a favorite of my boys since my first son was a toddler. I love the rhythmic tune as well as it is educational. My youngest has made his own Chicka Chicka Boom Boom book that he illustrated and wrote himself and it is the cutest. It is about the alphabet going up the tree and the tree gets so full of letters it starts to lean over and finally falls over but the momma and papa letters bet them back on their feet and they get confidence to get back up that tree. It is so cute. So this weekend, he wanted to create a papercraft of the coconut tree and so we went for it".... Read more

"How many times have you finished putting a block together and ended up with scraps?  Well, it's not uncommon to cut off 90 degree corners and discard the extra pieces of fabric. Somehow, this didn't feel right, so I decided to start experimenting with corners...  The result is tiny Half-square triangles, or HST, that can be used for another project. Great way to recycle old newspapers for a cost of next to nothing

Tutorial at Purple Hues and Me Blog

"To start, I initially used the insert section of newspaper and folded it into three parts.  The size is really the same as a half of a full news sheet so you can also divide these into three parts.  Cut into three strips. lace a skewer stick at a right angle on the paper, as pictured. Work the tip over the skewer and start rolling the paper with hands pressed down on table. Continue rolling until you get close to the end point.  You might have to lift the roll up to tighten.  It takes practice to perfect your rolls.  Add a bit of glue to the corner and continue rolling to the end".... Whether it's photos of our pets, our meals or, in my case, our crafts, somehow, little square-cropped photos with vintage-style filters just get us going. However, yanking these pictures from their digital realm make for a cute, fun style, reminiscent of Polaroid pictures. Tutorial at Purple Hues and Me Blog

"I usually like to post a craft project once a week, but with visiting friends, the holiday, and working on a paper mache creation that's taking too long to dry, I am a bit behind. Thinking of something that's no cost and quick to make, all I had to do was look in my recycle trash bin for a solution.  I've always wanted to make jewelry out of  plastic bottles . . . I think they are cool, chic and a great way to help the environment (if only in a small way) and to re-use some old PET plastic bottles.  PET stands for polyethylene terephthalate   Take a look at the bottom of your soft drink bottle and you will most likely find a logo as shown below and the number 1 there.  PET is also used to make bottles for water, juice, sports drinks, beer, mouthwash, catsup, and salad dressing".... "I loved my previous crochet hook case. I loved it because it was crocheted for me by my kid sister. I loved that I could see at a glance the size printed on each hook. I loved that it had a center pocket for other crochet tools (scissors, tape measure, and the like). And I loved that it matched my project basket. But I also hated my previous crochet hook case. The hooks fell out of it so easily that it barely did its job. (Sorry, Kid.) I decided it was time to replace it. I wanted a new case about the same size as the old case; a case that would contain the hooks in a way I could still see the sizes and also have space for the other tools. At least there are two swords, so I didn’t have to figure out how to DIY those… By the way, both swords are made of thick foam, and I recommend them very much for this kind of play – they are firm enough for fighting, but can’t really cause a serious injury (no pointy edges). "Have you noticed that Barbie's been absent from the blog for a while? That's because she's been enjoying summer and chilling on her new hammock! Just hanging out, catching some rays and waiting for Pablo the pool boy to bring her a nice cold drink. Yea, I gotta figure out how to get THAT life! This Barbie Hammock comes together pretty quickly and if you don't crochet the hammock can be made from material or even woven. " Read more

Make a Bustle Sun Dress out of tie dyed t shirts

Tutorial at The Tip Toe Fairy Blog

"Today I have a fabulous tutorial to make a Tie Dye Girls Bustle Sun Dress made from adult-sized t-shirts.  I dyed the shirts ahead of time with Tulip’s One Step, then turned them into this adorable sundress.  My daughter is a size 4, so I’ll be giving those measurements, but you can easily change it for other sizes. If you’re adventurous, you can even make this in an adult size".... Read more

Coconut fudge ice cream without a machine

Tutorial at Plenty of Paprika Blog

"When I first saw Kevin & Amanda's easy homemade ice cream recipe, I was intrigued. We have made ice cream in a bag before with heavy cream, it was not bad, but not something I would make regularly. So, when I needed to use up a pint of heavy whipping cream that has been in the fridge,  I figured I did not have much to lose.  To be honest, I did not expect much and I was pleasantly surprised! It was delicious! I would not say amazing or the best I had - it is hard to beat Blue Bell. None the less, it was very good and everyone really liked it".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Altered Art Bottles

http://kalasirjana.blogspot.in/2014/07/a-set-of-threealtered-bottles-and.html
Alter bottles with raised designs and paint

Tutorial at Kalasirjani Blog

"More altered art....a set of three using fine POP/Ceramic powder, PVA glue, acrylic colors and dry brushing technique. The texture/ design on the bottles is also made of a clay using plaster of Paris and Fevicol MR/white school glue/ Elmer's/PVA glue. You can also use modelling paste for this. The bottles are first cleaned, labels removed and dried thoroughly. Have used a paste of Plaster of paris mixed with glue thinned with water. The paste is of the consistency of  Gesso and a thick layer is put all over roughly to have an uneven texture.Let the bottles dry overnight"....Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Four Easy Necklaces

http://plentyofpaprika.blogspot.com/2014/07/4-easy-and-stylish-diy-necklace-designs.html
4 easy and stylish necklaces without any tools

Tutorial at Plenty of Paprika Blog

"Why is that I love to make jewelry but not so much wearing it? My friends and family don't complain, since they get the bulk of what I make. One night, inspiration (or boredom?) kept me up after I put the kids to bed and since J was out of town with our 15 year old, I set down to make 4 necklaces. The design ideas have been in my mind for a while now, so they came together pretty fast.  Most of these pieces have homes now with friends, but the design are easy to replicate. Also, no clasps or special tools needed. Of course that means that the necklaces need to be long enough to slip over the head. Sources for the beads and simple instructions on how to make each one are included after each design".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Button Biscuits

These could also be dipped in melted chocolate

Tutorial at Cocojude Blog

"I had the urge to bake today, and made these button shaped biscuits using a basic recipe and the stuff lurking in my cupboards.  We had a kitchen clear out on the weekend, and I found at least 5 half-used bags of sugar of various different colours.  I used a basic recipe from this months ASDA magazine (I’m a sucker for picking up free magazines, especially ones with recipes in them).  Ingredients: 115g butter (I used Stork as I always have some in the fridge), 65g caster sugar (I used brown sugar as that was already open), vanilla essence".... Tutorial - Refashion a Onesie into a Bubble Dress

http://whatsmummyupto.blogspot.com.au/2014/08/waste-not-want-not-bubble-dresses-from.html
Pair a onesie with a cute knit fabric

Tutorial at What's Mummy Up To Blog

"With growing up also comes a lack of need for baby things like onesies.  I mean, it really is a little unfair to expect this 2 1/2 year old to get herself out of a onesie in time to make it to the toilet ... and she does insist on taking herself to the toilet ... "I do it myself Mummy ... you stay out!" *sobs*  So those size 2 onesies I bought on sale last year, ready for this winter are absolutely no use to us at all now ... and they're brand new.  Time for a waste-not-want-not project me-thinks"....
