http://www.threadingmyway.com/2016/01/how-to-make-zipper-tabs-tutorial.html
A great way to finish off zippers on the ends of zippered pouches

Tutorial at Threading My Way Blog

"Today's tutorial will show you how I make my zipper tabs, so the finish on the front is neat and even, with no little bits sticking out.... 2" is the right width for a 1" wide zipper. If your zipper is a different width, adjust accordingly. The length of the zipper tab can be as long or as short as you would like. Alter the 3" dimension if you would like the tab shorter or longer.  NB: Set your iron to NO steam, to prevent burning fingers".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Zippered Pouch

http://schimalto-handmade.blogspot.com/2015/05/tutorial-for-zippered-pouch-with-bottom.html
Fusible interfacing gives your pouch structure

Tutorial at Schimalto Handmade Blog

"Here is a short tutorial for a zippered pouch with a firm bottom made of faux leather.  Before we start attach the fusable interfacing to the exterior fabrics.  Right sides together, attach one piece of exterior fabric to the faux leather. Be aware that the faux leather will create the bottom of the pouch, just to make sure that your pattern will be placed correctly. As needles might cause ugly holes in the faux leather, I used paper clips. You might also use hair clips or any other kind of clip - just don't pin it".... Read more

Fix a broken zipper pull with ribbon

Tutorial at Apple Green Cottage Blog

"What do you do when a zipper pull breaks? Especially with kids clothing, attaching a paper clip or a safety pin does not work as it is not safe (Nor pretty, for that matter).  The solution is simple and involves a single piece of a ribbon.  You'll only need 10 cm of a ..say 5 milimeter wide satin ribbon. You know, the it's-soo-beautiful kind of gift wrapping satin-like ribbon".... Read more

Tutorial Exchange - How to Make a Serger Zippered Pouch

https://cherishedneedlecreations.wordpress.com/2013/11/04/serger-zippered-pouch-tutorial/
Use a nylon coil zipper when using a serger for inserting

Pouch Tutorial at Cherished Needle Creations Blog

"Have you ever considered putting in a zipper with your serger?  This is actually my favorite way to insert a zipper, and I know lots of ways to do so.  Although using a serger to insert a zipper has its limitations, when it’s appropriate to use this technique, it’s amazingly quick and easy to do.  I want to thank K&CSupplies for providing the zipper used in this tutorial.  This pouch uses a handbag zipper, as opposed to a clothing zipper, and you will note the larger, sturdier zipper pull. K&CSupplies blog has a terrific blog post comparing handbag zippers to clothing zippers and explaining the differences. It’s definitely worth a read if you like making pouches, totes, and bags".... Pouch Tutorial at My Life in Snippets Blog

"I won a $15 gift card to K & C Supplies on Etsy to make a project and write up a tutorial using their products.  These are the items I picked- zippers and lobster clasps.  SOOOO EXCITED to make this one!  I love pouches.  Recently I learned how to make zipper pouches.  I like to line them so they're neat and tidy on the inside as well as the outside.  They're totally machine washable.  Names are always good to put on them too.  I also like to add a little clasp that can attach to bags, strollers, backpacks, whatever.  It's handy.  I'm making 7 for Christmas gifts.  Without further ado, here's my lined zipper bag with clasp and appliquéd name".... An interior zip pocket for any kind of bag

Zipper Tutorial at Once Upon a Sewing Machine Blog

"I love bags of all kinds. My hubby just shakes his head and does not even comment anymore. I decided to make some tweaks to the new bag and add a flush zippered pocket. I was excited to put this inside my market bag. After I cut all my bag pieces I needed to decide on the size of my pocket. I decided that my finished pocket would be 8 inches by 11 inches finished. This would be large enough to fit keys, wallet and phone. All the essentials".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Shorten a Metal Zipper

Be sure to wear protective goggles

Zipper Tutorial at Solomon Sewing Blog

"In my last post, I didn't think you could shorten a metal zipper. When you shorten a nylon zipper, you are left with teeth, which are fine to sew over, unless they are big chunky ones like in a separating zipper. You certainly don't want to be sewing over metal zipper teeth. Anyway, since the obstacle here is actually just a few zipper teeth, we just need to get rid of the teeth. Oh, and move the little stoppers that stop the zipper head from sliding off your zipper. We don't want that to happen. That might make us jump up and down and swear. A lot".... Read more
