Tutorial - How to Build a Rolling Pantry

http://www.grandmashousediy.com/build-your-own-rolling-pantry/
Use a small space to extra storage in your kitchen

Tutorial at Grandma's House DIY Blog

"I knew from the very beginning with Grandma’s house that the kitchen would end up being a bit of a galley. At first I leaned to using the closet under our stairs for our pantry but it worked out too well for that to be our wood storage. I also knew that we would probably have enough storage to make it work without a pantry but upon running into several, narrow, rolling pantrys on Pinterest (Check out this one, isn’t it gorgeous!?) I knew exactly what I would be building".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Build a Kitchen Sink Base

http://www.grandmashousediy.com/kitchen-sink-base/
Build a base out of wood to match a sink you love

Tutorial at Grandma's House DIY Blog

"I knew from the minute I laid eyes on it that it would become our kitchen sink and that I would be building a custom kitchen sink base for it! Never mind that it had been sitting in a shed for god knows how long and it had, in fact, been filled to the brim with a mouse nest and had probably raised hundreds (if not thousands) of rodents for decades and was, in fact, totally covered in the resulting excretions. Nope, none of that bothered me! I took one look at this sink and my heart soared. It was perfect! Ok, so it definitely ended up “too high” for most people’s standards but, in the end, both Joe and I love our kitchen sink! Once we had our appliances installed I gathered my materials for building the kitchen sink base".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Garden Planter

http://www.grandmashousediy.com/diy-garden-planter/
Planter makes it easy to weed and grow vegetables on your deck

Tutorial at Grandma's House DIY Blog

"I took an afternoon to build my wonderful mom a tall planter so she could have a vegetable garden on her deck. Gardens are known for endless hoeing and countless hours day in and day out bent over in back breaking work in the constant battle against weeds. Because we started with organic soil that we brought in we were already way ahead of any weeds or grasses that might try to take over our plants. (As opposed to tilling up a spot in our yard that would be chock full of thousands of different kinds of weeds and grass seeds) So far I can count on one hand the amount of minutes we’ve needed to weed this garden all year".... Tutorial - How to Install an Inexpensive Wood Floor

http://www.grandmashousediy.com/inexpensive-wood-floor/
500 square foot wood floor cost less then $300

Tutorial at Grandma's House DIY Blog

"You can put whatever you want under foot, if its wood, then you have a wood floor! It does not need to come out of a box that says “flooring” on it, nope, what makes a floor a floor is the fact that you walk on it. The only reason we did not opt for the plywood-cut-into-strips-option was because we do not own a table saw to cut it ourselves and it still would have been about twice the cost of what we ended up paying".... Tutorial at A Crafty Mix Blog

"You don’t need to spend a lot of money on a towel rack, it’s easy to make one from an old branch. Here’s how we made this one. All you need is a sturdy curved branch and some curtain accessories similar to the one shown in the picture below. It’s the bits you screw into the wall that keep the curtain rod up.  We cut the branch down a little and removed the side growths".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Popsicle Stick Clock

http://www.alvenh.com/misc-projects/clock/
Tutorial is 9 pages long with lots of photos

Tutorial at Alvenh Blog

"It all started in 2010 with an eBay search for a nice wall clock.  I wanted a clock decorated with animals, preferably wolves or dogs, in color, but with a traditional look.  Almost immediately, I found the perfect clock (well, almost), new in box. The only problem is that these clocks are almost always powered by battery quartz movements and rarely (if ever) mechanical (spring wind, weight driven, or synchronous AC motor).  And I absolutely HATE battery quartz movements. Then, an idea came to me: why not build a clock? Searching around, I came across an E. Ingraham spring wind clock movement dated 1868".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Rustic Mod Tablet Holder

Build with scrap wood, using a minimal amount of tools

Tutorial at Saws on Skates Blog

"Today I have a super easy project for you. It’s another project I made entirely from scrap wood I had in my workshop. Do you love FREE as much as I do?!
I just got my first tablet on Black Friday. I know, I’m a little late to the tablet party. I couldn’t have been the only person in America without a tablet, right?! I quickly realized once I started using it that I would need some accessories. A cover would be good (still haven’t found one I like). I would also need some kind of holder. A holder for reading or for when using the tablet for recipes in the kitchen, etc. You know me, I don’t buy, I build, so I searched for some DIY tablet holders".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Textured Candle Holders

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/diy-tutorial-textured-paint-candle-holders/
Layered muslin adds texture to wood blocks

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"We found these small wood blocks at Bunnings which are used to stack under sofa legs to add height and protect the floor. We started by painting on primer, then a layer of glue, but the surface crackled and blistered. The result created an interesting effect because the base colour shows through the crackled paint.  By adding another element (strips of muslin) and finishing off with a highlight colour. The textured finish turns a useful item into an decorative accessory for a table setting. The trick to creating this textured painted finish is to have an oil-based primer as the base, add a layer of paint, then aquadhere glue, then add another light layer of paint as a highlight colour".... Tutorial - Make a Planked Table Top Cover

http://www.holy-craft.com/2015/06/easy-diy-planked-table-top-cover-for.html
Build an attractive and removable table top

Tutorial at Holy Craft Blog

"I am a big believer in using what you have.  Why replace something if you can fix it? This idea to "fix" our current kitchen table has been rattling around in my head for at least a year. When we moved into this house nearly five years ago, we purchased a table at a local big box store. We had a lot of furniture to buy to fill our home that was twice the size of our previous home and I was working on a tight budget. Actually, let's be honest, I'm always working on a tight budget!  Long story short, the table, that to it's credit gets used multiple times a day, wasn't holding up as well as we would have liked.  I would often craft on the table and that poor surface took the brunt of the abuse.  That abuse and normal wear and tear on a cheap table was making it quite the eye sore in our kitchen".... Tutorial - Make a Wood Burned Hammer for Dad

http://www.fouroakscrafts.com/gift-dad/
A tutorial for making a great Father's Day gift

Tutorial at Four Oaks Crafts Blog

"I normally give my dad a handmade pen for his birthday or Father’s Day, but this year I decided to do something different. I saw this idea somewhere on Pinterest. I got into woodburning a few years ago, and I love the ability it gives you to personalize crafts. So this is a fairly easy tutorial. The main thing you need is some kind of woodburner. I used the Detail Master Dagger III, but you can pick up a cheaper woodburner in most craft stores. I like the Dagger III because I can regulate the heat and change out the tips for my detailed work".... Read more

Tutorial at Lemon Jitters Blog

"Ooh, I love these little keychains! Good thing they are perfect for gifts because you will definitely want to make several. Let's get started...Paint your wooden shapes. You'll want to have a circle as your base and other wood veneer embellishments on top. Use your washi/painter's tape to create color blocked pieces. I also did a wobbly plaid pattern and a splotchy dot pattern. This project is so great because you can customize the colors any way you want - the wood is a blank slate".... Read more

Tutorial at Fleur de Lis Quilts Blog

"Do you know why cedar is such a popular scent for closets?  In additional to being really pretty, the wood has a wonderful, woodsy scent that repels insects. Really, the fact that cedar repels bugs is the main reason for having it in your closet. Those repelled bugs includes moths, which love to eat sweaters and coats.  Ask me how I know".... Read more

Tutorial - Make Pumpkin Decorations with Pallets

Cute, easy to make, and the materials are free

Tutorial at Little House of Four Blog

"Fall is just around the corner and that means it's almost time for all the fall festivals and activities.  Some of my fondest memories with my kids are playing in the leaves and going to the local pumpkin patch for a hay ride and pumpkin picking.  With pumpkins on my mind and pallets in the yard I decided to combine the two and make pallet pumpkins.  I started by cutting the boards apart with a circular saw. Once I had the boards cut from the pallet I started cutting them into smaller pieces".... Read more
