Tutorial - How to Make Fold Flat Bowl Holders

http://joysjotsshots.blogspot.com/2016/04/flat-out-bowl-holders.html
Stack flat to fit in a drawer

Tutorial at Joy's Jots, Shots & Whatnots Blog

"I came up with this idea last Christmas when making gifts.  As usual I took a lot longer trying to find a quicker way to make some bowl holders.  It may be just a tad quicker, but definitely these holders don't take up as much space when you store them flat unlike the bowl holders you see all over the internet. They also have a multi-use since they can be used as a hot pad to set a dish on".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Google Eyes Bowl

http://theseamanmom.com/google-eyes-bowl/
Decor piece for kids room or a children's party

 Tutorial at Creative Homemaking Blog

"This Google Eyes Bowl is a creative and fun way to make a fantastic gift and keeps kids busy for a while. It’s also a great way to bond and a nice decorative piece on your kids desk. It’s a super fun project and it makes me smile every time I see it!  I added a bit of sparkle because I’m girly like that and also to cover the Mod Podge spots that otherwise wouldn’t look as great. It was designed to look nerdy but I think it’s super cute and totally appropriate for my room, err I mean Ellie’s room. And I love the noise it makes when I grab the bowl, too cute".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Fabric Bowl

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/diy-tutorial-easy-fabric-bowls/
Choose a fabric to fit the season or holiday

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"In the gifting season, small containers are good to use to wrap things in. Home made treats or lollies look that much better in a hand-made container like these Easy Fabric Bowls. People really appreciate that it’s hand-made too. Lynn Pavey made these fabric bowls with very simple materials – fabric and a cornflour and water paste. Like the String Stars decorations we made, and the Rope Bowls Kit the cornflour paste forms a stiffening agent and makes the fabric hold it’s shapes when moulded around a base".... Read more

Make for gifting, or for your own holiday tablescape

Tutorial at Lindsey Crafter Blog

"After finding these gorgeously gilded wood bowls on Anthropologie I haven't been able to shake them!  After perusing my local TJ Maxx I happened upon the SAME live-edge wood bowls for $10-$7 and grabbed a few to DIY! Applying gold leaf to these was challenging but added the perfect metallic detail to my coffee table setup".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Sew a Bowl with Rope

http://theseamanmom.com/how-to-sew-a-bowl-with-rope/
Turn humble rope into a beautiful and handy bowl

Tutorial at The Seaman Mom Blog

"... I thought I’d make something super fun too, something that’s also easy and relaxing, with stuff I had on hand already! Like these pretty bowls made out of rope, to hold our Pop Secret popcorn while watching our favorite movies (tutorial below). These are so easy to sew, exciting and relaxing at the same time so if you own a sewing machine you’ll want to give these a try! It all took less than half an our, maybe around 20 minutes for the 3 bowls so this is probably the quickest sewing project I’ve ever done. Perfect for a beginner sewist".... Read more

Tutorial - Make a Fruit Bowl with a Palm Leaf

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/how-hack-fab-fruit-bowl/
Use a good glossy opaque paint in a bold color to highlight the  natural lines of the leaf

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"This hack is a fruit bowl made from a Palm tree leaf, called a Sepal. Lynn Pavey came up with this idea after finding a Sepal when out walking and then spying her unfinished tin of exterior house paint.  It really doesn’t require much skill, just a bit of painting. Of course, if you don’t live anywhere remotely near palm trees, it might be difficult. But, it might inspire you to look twice at those sculptural natural forms we find on the ground when out walking in nature. Sepals make beautiful pieces to display on a side table, as a centrepiece, or on a mantel".... Read more

Tutorial - Make Fabric Covered Foam Bowls and Boxes

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/photo-tutorial-foam-bowls-and-boxes/
You can make various shaped containers

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"These colourful containers were created by Guest Presenter Lynn Pavey. She made them from ‘dollar shop’ craft foam and fabric offcuts. They are handy lightweight containers that can be used for containing anything (fruit, coloured pencil stash, stationery bits, or party treats (lollies, wrapped chocolates, serviettes).  Lynn has also figured out a way of using the colours in the mixed foam sheets pack that aren’t your first pick. As you’ll see if you team the tone with the just the right fabric, it can look sensational. Sometimes it doesn’t need to match, just harmonise, to look right. Give it a try, and test your own shapes".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make Torn Clay Bowls

http://www.makery.uk/2015/03/diy-torn-clay-bowls/
Clay bowls that look like high end art porcelain

Tutorial at Makery Blog

"Staying with air dry clay for now, these bowls were actually the first thing I made, and the clay and copper magnets the last. While I smoothed and sanded the fridge magnets, there was also something that appealed to me about the texture of this clay in it’s unrefined state. I had planned on making simple circular bowls cut out with a knife, but I liked the uncut edge so much I thought I’d make it a feature".... Read more

Tutorial at Makery Blog

"If you want a quick and easy DIY fix, then DIY doesn’t get much quicker and easier than this fruit bowl “tart up.”  I thrifted this wooden bowl for like, £1-2, a couple of years ago. I’m loving copper accents and am looking at ways of bringing a liiiiiitle bit of copper into our room scheme without it being overpowering or too blingy".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Paper Bowl

http://www.thechillydog.com/2014/09/craft-challenge-tutorial-paper-bowl.html
Make a paper bowl with magazines, mod podge, and a bit of patience

Tutorial at The Chilly Dog Blog

"I decided to try a project that I have been envisioning for quite some time, a decorative (not for soup or cereal) paper mache type bowl. It's super easy to make, but rather time consuming and delightfully messy.  Start by shredding a few catalogs or magazines. over your work surface with a couple pieces of newspaper.Blow up a balloon and place it tied side down in a bowl. The more you blow up your balloon, the bigger your paper bowl will be".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Recycled Newspaper Bowl

http://plumperfectandme.blogspot.com/2014/06/recycled-newspaper-bowl-with-lid-diy.html
Great way to recycle old newspapers for a cost of next to nothing

Tutorial at Purple Hues and Me Blog

"To start, I initially used the insert section of newspaper and folded it into three parts.  The size is really the same as a half of a full news sheet so you can also divide these into three parts.  Cut into three strips. lace a skewer stick at a right angle on the paper, as pictured. Work the tip over the skewer and start rolling the paper with hands pressed down on table. Continue rolling until you get close to the end point.  You might have to lift the roll up to tighten.  It takes practice to perfect your rolls.  Add a bit of glue to the corner and continue rolling to the end".... Tutorial - How to Make a Rope Bowl

All you need is rope, glue, and patience

Rope Bowl Tutorial at Domestic Deficit Disorder Blog

"I finally got around to making my own rope bowl! Well, first off I saw a Pinterest idea for wrapping the rope around containers, kind of a recycling idea and I liked it, but I could not settle on a container and what on earth I would use it for... so instead I coiled the rope on itself and made a bowl!  For two days after I walked around saying, "I made a bowl!"I was ecstatic"....
