Tutorial - Director's Chairs Update

http://www.libbyslifestyle.com/2016/09/director-chairs-spring-update.html
Choose a sturdy fabric in a delightful pattern

Tutorial at Libby's Lifestyle Blog

"My director chairs were looking sad, very sad. What is it about Spring that makes me look at things in a different way, with a different eye? Well, whatever it is, "it" was making me want to do something drastic to my sad and neglected director chairs. I didn't want to throw them out. Realistically, they can easily give me another 20 years of service. Yes, I've had them THAT long. I like director chairs. Always have. They're comfortable and convenient".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Decorate Spartan Sandals

https://thelittletreasures.blogspot.mk/2016/08/diy-idea-decorate-your-spartan-sandals.html
Embellish your sandals with pom-poms and tassels

Tutorial at Little Treasures Blog

"Pom-pom and tassel embellished sandals were immensely fashionable this summer, so Eva bought these lovely Spartan sandals with the idea to add them a bit of color. We decided to use only pom-poms and tassels although various types of pendants and charms can be added as well. To make the pom-poms I used this method".... Read more

Tutorial - Make an Industrial Chic Display Ladder

http://acraftymix.com/blog/2016/07/11/industrial-display-ladder/
Display a throw, a little plant, or other mementos

Tutorial at A Crafty Mix Blog

"Storage and display ladders are all the rage at the moment, but they can be a little pricey and some of them seemed a bit wonky. I’m not really sure if they would be able to hold lots of blankets and the last thing you want is for your display to end up in a heap on the floor.  So we decided to make our own and combine functional storage with a little industrial chic for a unique take on this latest craze.  Our little ladder was really easy to assemble, didn’t cost a lot and adds so much character to our living area".... Tutorial - Refashion a Sweater with Fabric Paint

http://leeyaengel.blogspot.com/2016/06/sweater-skirt-upcycle-from-stained-to.html
Save a stained garment artfully

Tutorial at Leeya Engel Blog

"When Mia somehow managed to get green silly putty embedded in this pretty sweater skirt, I thought I might never wear it again. Then I remembered these fabric paints I had left over from my baby shower where we painted onesies and a lightbulb went off!  The final fabric-painted skirt is way cooler than the original!  A word about fabric painting sweater material: you want to use a paintbrush to create gradients of color and work them in to the knit".... Tutorial - How to Make a No-Sew Beach Cover Up

http://theseamanmom.com/no-sew-beach-cover-up/
Breezy and cute cover up you can whip up in minutes

Tutorial at Creative Homemaking Blog

"The beach season is getting close for me, I made plans to have a little trip with Ellie end of this month. And I realized I don’t really have anything to wear at the beach. I don’t particularly like to run around the pool or the beach in my swimming suit so I needed something . Something that is super easy to make and doesn’t requires sewing. I also wanted something cool, with a beachy, breezy, laid back feeling. And so I made a no sew beach cover up".... Read more

Tired of the botanicals - swap them for a different prints

Tutorial at The Rugged Rooster Blog

"I’ve been seeing these salvaged windows with botanical prints in them everywhere. The thing I love about them is that they’re old, they’re chippy, they’re imperfect. The Free printables I found have that vintage flare that make them look like they were torn from an old book. Read on to find out where I found my salvaged window and where to find these awesome vintage and free printables".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Add Sleeves to a T-Shirt

http://www.ninamakes.com/2016/05/adding-sleeves-to-t-shirt-tutorial.html
Add sleeves to a short sleeve tee, and get a little more life out of it

Tutorial at Nina Makes Blog

"For some reason Harry has an entire drawer crammed full of short sleeve T-shirts, but only four or five long sleeve tees. Since we are going into winter on this side of the world (bottom really!) I think a few more long sleeves will come in handy.  So I had a light bulb moment and thought why not add sleeves!  Harry has a couple long sleeve tees that look like short sleeve tees with long sleeves underneath, but are in fact only one layer.  So why not add sleeves myself?  With a tutorial for you all of course".... Tutorial - How to Refashion a Hat

https://frommycarolinahome.wordpress.com/2016/04/04/refashioning-a-hat/
Make a hat new again with spray paint and embellishments

Tutorial at From My Carolina Home Blog

"I like to wear hats, especially in the spring and summer.  I usually have one on when hiking, and doing car shows to keep the sun out of my eyes. I really adore the hats on Downton Abby, and I wish that hats would make a comeback for daily wear.  I have about a half dozen that I regularly wear, and one of them was just getting really sad.  Replacing a hat isn’t easy these days as they are not inexpensive anymore, and finding that perfect shape and size isn’t easy either.   This one started out as a straw color a few years ago with some kind of embellishment that I cannot even remember".... Tutorial - DIY Mid-Century Dresser Transformation

http://www.plasteranddisaster.com/building-a-mid-century-dresser-for-the-bedroom/
Refashion a 1990s dresser with hand-made legs, a new frame, and stain

Tutorial at Plaster & Disaster Blog

"The topic today is my bedroom, where I’ve know for some time that I want to replace my tall dresser in the back corner with a long and low dresser. This was part of the plan when we moved Sam’s dresser into his study to hold office supplies, since Sam thus needed somewhere new to keep his clothes and I thought a long low dresser would be perfect for us to share. Here’s the corner in question".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Upcycle Vintage Linens into a Dress

http://annasheirloomboutique.com/2016/03/25/pillowcase-dress-tutorial/
Easy and unique way to sew a sweet little pillowcase dress

Tutorial at Anna's Heirloom Boutique Blog

"Vintage embroidered linens have a certain charm to them. Maybe it’s because they remind us of a simpler time. Back before the days of cell phones and internet and reality TV shows….Back then, embroidery was a favorite past time for many women. They embroidered everything from tea towels, table runners, home decor and bed linens. Sadly, these items end up getting stored away or forgotten, or even worse, thrown in the garbage! These are works of art and deserve to be seen and admired. It is my mission to give them a new life and inspire others to do the same".... Read more

Tutorial - Lace Up Roper Boot Refashion

http://www.upcycleddesignlab.com/2016/01/lace-up-roper-boot-refashion-1.html
Time lapse video plus pictures and instructions

Tutorial at Upcycled Design Lab Blog

"Surely I am not too old to explore new corners of this wonderful world.  Yet I am stuck like a barnacle afraid to lose the familiar and comfortable life that I know, attached firmly to the bow of my little boat.   The hubby would jump at the chance to live in some warmer climate.  So I may be scraped free of my floating vessel yet, and forced into some unexpected and delightful voyage. Time will tell I suppose.  But where ever I end up I am pretty sure of two things.  One, I will stay afloat and two, I will continue to make things. I have had this old pair of Roper boots for awhile now and finally got around to doing something with them or more accurately one of them".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Dress Up a Welcome Mat

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/diy-tutorial-spring-door-mat/
A fresh way to add color and cuteness to a cheap black rubber mat

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"A front door mat is called a “Welcome mat” for a reason. It’s one of the first things people see when arriving at your door.  If you need something serviceable but inviting, here’s a fresh way to add colour and cuteness to a cheap black rubber mat. It’s a way to say “Welcome”, without the words.  The flowers and leaves woven into this mat are made from old kids’ singlets. You can use any type of jersey cotton but stretch cotton material is necessary to weave around the holes easily. We used singlets for the flowers and an old T-shirt for the green leaves (because we had no green singlets). The rubber mat with circular holes came from Bunnings* for less than $10".... Read more

Tutorial - Refashion a Fleece Sweatshirt into a Jacket

http://www.makery.uk/2016/01/refashion-fleece-sweatshirt-to-minimalist-cropped-jacket/
Make a cute and stylish cropped jacket from a sweatshirt

Tutorial at The Makery Blog

"It’s been all about the cozy around here. Temperatures as we know have been less than balmy and Shedquarters has been a little chilly to say the least. So an extra layer (or two) has been a prerequisite recently. Enter this oatmeal coloured “blah” fleece!  “Blah” because of the shape. But the fleece itself is super soft and has the appearance of felted wool….except way way softer! So I set about chopping it up….and this is what I ended up with".... Read more

Tutorial - Remake a Sweatshirt into a Coatigan

http://www.makery.uk/2015/11/fo-cable-ponte-coatigan-dragonfly-fabrics-giveaway/
You can use any loose/easy fit sweatshirt or raglan sleeve pattern

Tutorial at Makery Blog

"This is a hack I’ve been wanting to test out for a while. A simple raglan sleeve sweatshirt pattern, to my mind, had potential to be hacked into coatigan. And what do you know.  I’d been eyeing this cable knit jacquard ponte from Dragonfly Fabrics. When it arrived I wasn’t disappointed. Yes it is as soft, squishy and bouncy as it looks. The only unexpected thing for me was the reverse of the fabric wasn’t grey but a black synthetic mesh type affair. The best way I can describe it is a sandwich of layers. I’d been flippy flopping between a skirt, dress or jacket for this fabric. Once I saw the reverse I decided on the coatigan".... Read more

Tutorial - Upcycle Clothing with Batik

http://www.greenissuessingapore.blogspot.com/2015/11/diy-batik.html
Step by step on how to use batik to revamp your clothes

Tutorial at Green Issues by Agy Blog

"Batik is a very traditional form of textile art in South East Asia. Wax is used applied to the fabric in a technique called "wax resist dye" before colour is painted to dye it.  Areas with wax will resist the dye.  The most well known form of batik is Indonesian batik.  My experience with it so far is that it is like Chinese calligraphy. I had so much fun trying out the technique with my white top".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Kimono Cardigan

http://www.makery.uk/2015/10/fo-hacci-knit-kimono-cardi-tutorial/
Uses simple rectangles - no pattern required.

Tutorial at Makery Blog

"This is one of two Hacci knits kindly sent to me by Girl Charlee. You can see what I did with the other one here. Of the two, this was the easier to work with. Both my serger and standard machine handled this well with fine jersey needles. You’ll likely need to employ the differential feed on your serger due to the fabric’s urge to stretch under the pressure foot. So recommend swatching to perfect your settings before you get going".... Read more

Tutorial - Make a Refashioned Watercolor Skirt

http://www.plasteranddisaster.com/paint-disaster-to-watercolor-skirt/
A stained skirt transformed into a watercolor print

Tutorial at Plaster & Disaster Blog

"Fabric paint can leave a pretty rough texture which isn’t fun to wear, so I decided to try a watercolor effect in hope that that would help the fabric retain some of its softness. I also thought that this would lead to a pattern that would be realistic for me to be able to replicate over the full skirt".... Read more

Without having a whole lot of time to get a totally new bag made and finished, I decided it would be a lot easier and quicker to start off with a finished purse and update it to fit what I really need".... Tutorial - Refashion a Shirt into a Bow Tie Blouse

http://greenissuessingapore.blogspot.com/2015/09/how-to-upcycle-shirt-into-pussy.html
Fun trendy blouse makeover

Tutorial at Green Issues By Agy Blog

"I haven't worked in an office for a long time - no more prim and proper shirts; no more ironing!  I still have two of my office shirts from 3 years ago (has it been that long?), one is cotton while the other is polyester. Unfortunately, they are both getting dull and turning a bit grey instead of being pristine white. The cotton one has yellow dots and I'm still hoping I can save it, but anyway, I transformed one of them into a pussy bow blouse   - these are apparently the must have of the season, but I didn't know that until I was googling to find out what I should call my creation"....
