Tutorial - How to Make Textured Candle Holders

http://www.handsonworkshop.com.au/diy-tutorial-textured-paint-candle-holders/
Layered muslin adds texture to wood blocks

Tutorial at Hands On Workshop Blog

"We found these small wood blocks at Bunnings which are used to stack under sofa legs to add height and protect the floor. We started by painting on primer, then a layer of glue, but the surface crackled and blistered. The result created an interesting effect because the base colour shows through the crackled paint.  By adding another element (strips of muslin) and finishing off with a highlight colour. The textured finish turns a useful item into an decorative accessory for a table setting. The trick to creating this textured painted finish is to have an oil-based primer as the base, add a layer of paint, then aquadhere glue, then add another light layer of paint as a highlight colour".... Wrap for a large candle - quick and easy gift idea

Candle Cozy Tutorial at Crafty Staci Blog

"There’s nothing like a good scented candle to bring a sense of the season to a house.  I’ve disappointed many a friend and family member when they’ve walked into the house and thought I was baking something delicious, only to find out it was a candle burning.  I can evoke a sense of summer fruit or Christmas cookies and all I need is a lighter.  I almost feel guilty. Because I’m such a fan of candles, I love to give them as gifts.  Not that a candle alone isn’t great to give and receive, but it’s nice to add a little handmade touch".... Read more

"I've been wanting to make one of these for awhile so I was very elated and excited to find out my boyfriend (independent of me) decided to find a tutorial online and make one himself. Tutorial - How to Make a Candle Holder

Nice Rustic Look

Candle Holder Tutorial at Stephanie @ Home Blog

"Work has been INSANE lately and it's been a while since I got my hands dirty with sawdust and stain. But, this weekend I carved out some time to hop back on the DIY bandwagon and man, did it feel good! I forgot how much I love crafting and creating. It's so therapeutic and a great way to get your mind off of anything else that may be stressing you out. For my first project back I wanted to tackle something relatively quick, easy and inexpensive just to get my confidence back and this rustic tea light candle holder met all of the criteria" Read more

Tutorial - How to Make New Candles from Old

Gotta love crafty hubbies!

New Candles from Old Tutorial at Crafty Staci
"I love candles. Let me rephrase that…I love candles that smell good. People who know me are aware of this, and are happy to encourage my collection whenever a good reason presents itself. I have a cupboard in my house dedicated solely to candles – that’s how bad it is.

One day, I was about to throw away one of those big jar candles that was so empty it wouldn’t burn anymore. My husband snagged it and, adding it to several more he intercepted since, decided to make his own candles from the remaining wax..." Read more
