Tutorial - How to Doily Stencil a Cushion

http://www.pillarboxblue.com/how-to-doily-stencil-a-cushion/
Transform plain cushions into something fabulous

Tutorial at Pillar Box Blue Blog

"I gave my outdoor canvas cushions a bit of a makeover by using a doilies as stencils to paint pretty patterns on them. I loved this craft. It was so easy to do. My favourite kind of craft, cheap, fun and little effort for great results. I warn you it is very addictive as the cushions are so lovely. I know I’m going to end up with too many cushions outside now.   You might remember a couple of weeks ago I made some Map Table Mats. When I was putting them away in the kitchen with all my other table stuff, such as paper napkins and cloths, I struggled to shut the draw. It was time for a clear out! Firstly I discovered that I must stop buying paper napkins no matter how pretty they are. Secondly I found right at the bottom a packet of paper doilies".... Read more

Choose cloth napkins and pretty ribbon to begin

Tutorial at Purple Hues and Me Blog

"Napkin pillows are very popular and easy to make. There are quite a few tutorials out in blogland showing you how to put two napkins together for a pillow.  I'm going one step further, showing you how to embellish a napkin pillow by making a dainty narrow ribbon flower.  If you can glue two ribbon ends together and sew straight seams or use iron on tape for a no-sew pillow, you can make this adorable decorative pillow. And you only need a few items to put this together".... Read more

Tutorial - Make a Recycled Denim Pocket Pillow

http://www.pillarboxblue.com/diy-iphone-denim-pocket-pillow/
Tuck your phone safely in the denim pocket

Tutorial at Pillar Box Blue Blog

"Using an old pair of jeans, a sweater and some scrap fabric I made my youngest son Fergus a cool pillow for his room. This is no ordinary pillow, it has a killer feature; I have incorporated the pocket from the jeans so he has somewhere to put his phone whilst lying on the bed listening to music.  When I was a teenager, I spent a lot of my time listen to music in my room. Now that my boys are teenagers they like to do the same, but this time the music is on their phones and they listen through headphones. I decided make Fergus a pillow with a pocket so he had somewhere safe to put his iphone".... Read more

A perfect pillow for a child's room

Tutorial at Sew Toy Blog

"Why have I decided to start a year with sewing  a decorative dog pillow? Well, dear friends, I am so excited! We got a new family member right after Christmas, a puppy! His name is Bobi, and he is a mixed breed dog, partially Labrador, partially Golden retriever and partially … well unknown. He is dark as night and only has a white spot on his chest. He is very smart and he is learning fast. Who would have guessed, that a cat lady since forever would ever own a dog! Therefore, I am starting this year with creating something inspired by this cute little creature living together with us in the house now – a dog pillow for my son’s room".... Read more

Tutorial - Make Color Blocked Throw Pillows

http://www.plasteranddisaster.com/easy-color-block-throw-pillows/
Transform your living room with new covers for your throw pillows

Tutorial at Plaster & Disaster Blog

"Throw pillows are annoyingly expensive, though, so I decided to buy a few new ones but also sew some of my own. I thought that a variety of color-block patterns could be a fun way to bring in lots of colors that tie to the pinks, yellows, and blues in the room, so my first step was to buy an array of solid color fabric.  I  wanted to experiment with different color blocking patterns and combinations, and ended up putting together five different covers".... Tutorial - How to Make a Snowman Pillow

http://www.patchworkposse.com/snowman-pillow-tutorial/
Cute design for the winter season

Tutorial at Patchwork Posse Blog

"I am a super big fan of blue.  I believe I got that love of blue from my mother.  It was and still is her go-to color.  If you look into my fabric stash, this is the color that I have the most of.  I have a hard time not putting it into a project.  For this snowman pillow, I used the fabric from the Dear Stella Ashe line.   It couldn’t have been more up my alley.  The blues and tones are simply divine.  After making the quilt, I ended up with a few half square triangles and decided to make a matching pillow".... Tutorial - Wicker Furniture Refinish and Pillows

http://www.boreidesign.com/2015/08/life-on-southern-porch-part-2-diy-table.html
Picnic style table cloth makes water resistant pillow covers

Tutorial at Borei Design Blog

"Have you noticed how many outdoor furniture stores are selling a lot of cheap, plastic looking, faux wicker these days? What is a "real" southern porch without "real" wicker? In lieu of purchasing overpriced junk that I would never be satisfied with, I decided to transform some of the old traditional wicker pieces into exactly what I wanted...the fact that I'm an obsessive upcycler may have also had a "little" to do with that decision as well. cough, cough.  I started with this outdoor wicker love seat I picked up for $5 at a yard sale and added a matching rocker and table duo I snagged through a local Facebook sale".... Tutorial at Sol Da Eira Blog

"For those days when you're really tired, here's an idea for an eye pillow. Inside, there's rice and some drops of lavanda essencial oil. The pillow must be kept in the freezer inside a zipper bag and it's used cold on the eyes or forehead. it can also be heated in the microwaves to use on the belly. The tutorial is the same that I used in the healing bags".... Read more

Tutorial - Make a Patriotic Pillow Cover

http://olives-n-okra.com/patriotic-throw-pillows-/
Easy patriotic throw pillows using fabric remnants and fiberfill

Tutorial at Olives-n-Okra Blog

"I had several pieces of fabric leftover from my Patriotic Rag Wreath. The fabric color scheme didn’t match the colors I picked for the wreath, so I thought I could use them to make Patriotic Throw Pillows.  I don’t have a pattern for the throw pillows. I simple shored up my material and made each pair of contrasting fabric the same size, stitched about a 5/8-inch seam on 3 sides of the material and about 2/3 of the last side, then stuffed the pillows with handfuls of polyester fiberfill. Simone helped me sew by pressing her two little feet on the sewing machine foot pedal until she got tired. Then she helped stuff pillows until that bored her".... Read more

Attractive design with a simple potato stamp

Tutorial at Sisters What Blog

"One of my new year goals this year was to start tackling the projects from my pinterest boards. To make this goal doable, I decided to complete at least one project a month. To make it even more fun, there are a few other bloggers joining me (see below).  My project for this month was a potato stamped pillow. I saw this plus sign pillow and just had to give the potato stamping a try. I was kind of nervous at first, but it was really fun and easy. Plus (no pun intended. I really liked the imperfect look of the stamp. Captain Awesome wanted to help and we had a little mishap in the corner of the pillow case, but it kind of adds character".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Portable Chair Cushion

http://elizabethmadethis.com/tie-cushions-for-portable-sewing/
Cushions for those times you are sewing away from home and need some extra height

Tutorial at Elizabeth Made This Blog

"My sewing group and I have a wonderful church basement that we get to work in every month.  It’s next to the kitchen, it has tons of natural light, and we regularly get 2 large tables EACH to work with.  Basically, it’s an ideal work situation with one small problem–the chairs are super low, metal folding chairs that are as hard as rocks.  By the end of our long work day, I always have a headache from being ergonomically disadvantaged. Perhaps you, like me have a place where you sew away from home that has equally bad chairs.  But we sew, right? Make your own tie cushion with".... Read more

Basic sewing and quilting skills needed

Tutorial at Fleur de Lis Quilts Blog

"I have been trying to use up some of my old leftovers, so I decided on these strips from a quilt that I made years ago.  I auditioned a couple of fabrics from the stash, and the darker blue won out. In the end, I didn't use much of the strips because I wanted the pillow to have a modern feel to it.  Ignoring the seams, I fussy cut a couple of pieces to get pieces some of the pretty leaves in the picture.  After adding a wide strip in the center of the florals, I cut the block in half and added another wide strip".... "Last year I had made a few heart quilt blocks — but didn’t have a project for them to go into!  After looking at their size I found that they were the perfect size for making a pillow cover for a bolster pillow I have in the living room.  They are made with a basic 4 patch…if you can believe it.  Super simple and perfect for making in one afternoon. The pillow cover features a flap that covers the opening for the pillow form to go into.  Works great! Plus it’s super simple to sew and not as complicated as you think".... Read more

Sew one of the popular pillow pets

Tutorial at So Sew Easy Blog

"I’m Stephanie from Swoodson Says and I’m excited to be contributing posts over here. My son is almost 2 and at such a fun age; I love making him unique toys, dress-up accessories,  and softies. Two of my favorites that I’ve blogged about are a DIY Buckle Toy & a giant Floor Book Pillow. Pillow pets are so popular – we already have one store-bought small one and my son loves to lay on it and read or drag it around by the tail. The selection of animals is pretty small, so I decided to make my own".... Read more
