"Wrap the yarn around your fingers - the thickness depends on the wrapping - the more strands you have - the thicker the bow. Decide on how thick you want it to be. Carefully take it off and tightly wrap it several times at the center of the bow.Leave a long tail, thread a needle, tie a knot and hide it in the bow".... Read more

http://akamatras.blogspot.gr/2015/10/how-to-make-yarn-box-perfect-for-graph.html
Keep your yarn untangled and clean

Tutorial at Akamatras Blog

"Fall is the part of the year when I enjoy crocheting the most! It's always nice to have time to sit on your couch and crochet a warm blanket, a beanie, or a couple of dozes cup cozies! Only this year I am not alone. Nope, this year I have company near me on the couch! A little furry mister called Mini the cat. I've wrote all about him here but I am not sure if I stressed out how much of a yarn thief this little guy is! He is going into battle as I write these lines with one of my crochet bows! I mean he LOVES to play with it!  However I have a business to run and I can't have cat hair all over my crochet items".... Read more

Tutorial - How to Make a Circular Yarn Wall Hanging

http://www.plasteranddisaster.com/circular-yarn-wall-hanging/
Easy technique for a large, low-cost piece of art

Tutorial at Plaster & Disaster Blog

"I had been looking for the right piece to round out the decoration of my office/dressing room, anyway, so I figured this was a good chance to make something to fit.  I came up with a plan to make a circular hanging with some graphic pops of color. To create the circular shape, I finally found a use for a wicker hoop that I have been hoarding for some future project since I was like 11. Literally.  I don’t even remember where it came from anymore, but I’ve been holding onto this thing through my teen years, college, and multiple moves and apartment clean-out".... Read more

Great for keeping your yarn from rolling across the floor, collecting dust, etc.

Tutorial at Bread & With It Blog

"I was doing my weekly stroll through Jo Ann’s the other day, (It’s become a second home for me, since they just built one by my house, and homeschool moms qualify for Jo Ann’s 15% teacher discount. These are all things that make me very happy.) and I came across the famous Yarntainer. The Yarntainer is seriously one of the best inventions I’ve seen in a long time".... Read more

http://www.makery.uk/2015/04/diy-ombre-food-colour-dyed-yarn/
You can use cotton or wool yarn

Tutorial at Makery Blog

"When I was making my yarn wrapped pattern weights it occurred to me that it might be quite fun to ombre dye the cotton yarn I was using. I only need to dye a little bit so didn’t want to fork out for Rit or  Dylon fabric dyes. So I turned to the kitchen cupboards, naturally!  You will need: Yarn.  (I used simple cotton dishcloth yarn). Food Colour. White vinegar. Glass bowls".... Read more

Tutorial - Turmeric Dyed Ombre Yarn

http://www.makery.uk/2015/03/diy-turmeric-dyed-ombre-yarn/
Use natural turmeric to add beautiful golden ombre tones to a ball of yarn

Tutorial at Makery Blog

"In the past I’ve used tea & Coffee to dye clothes. I’ve been meaning to try turmeric as a dye for aaaages. Then this week when I was “playing” with some yarn for an upcoming project (which btw worked out really well and I think you’re gonna love!!) I figured I might as well use the turmeric on some yarn instead to guage the process and see if I liked it before committing it to a garment. Well, I like it alot! What’s more it’s so easy to do. If you have some plain yarn at home that is in need of a little more zing….this could be just the ticket".... Read more

http://www.makery.uk/2015/02/diy-recycle-old-t-shirts-into-yarn/
Turn an unwanted T Shirt into a ball of yarn for your next crochet or knitting project

Tutorial at Makery Blog

"Last night, I became aware that I’d got through the day having made nothing. I’m leaning quite heavily on creative pursuits at the moment to keep me calm and sane. (Do you find therapy in DIY?) So last night I was feeling a bit twitchy and decided to try making some T Shirt Yarn. Little did I know how addictive it would be! Now there are more than a few tutorials on this out there. I could have just linked to any one of those but a) that would be a boring post for you! and b) there were a couple of  things that I discovered that I wanted to add into the mix, that I think helped me achieve a better result than my first attempt".... Tutorial - How to Dye Yarn with Madder

http://soleneknits.blogspot.fr/2014/11/photo-tutorial-teinture-naturelle-la.html
Pot and tools should be used exclusively for dyeing

Tutorial at Solene Knits Blog

"I just received a case of big natural wool and decided to start again experimenting with natural dyeing. I dyed a skein with a mixture of plants called "henné noir" but there is no henna nor indigo in it. Well, I got a beautiful brown with it. I dyed another skein with madder. Last time I tried dyeing with madder, I got a very light pink so I was really not satisfied. But this time, I obtained the perfect madder red. Let me show you how I did".... Read more

Easy steps to reclaim yarn for another project

Tutorial at Green Issues by Agy Blog

"We had our first yarnbombing meet at the Singapore Science Centre on May Day. I  must admit I was rather nervous as I have never done guerilla knitting before!  We had a good turn out considering it was a public holiday. Considering the extreme weather we have been experiencing, we will be yarnbombing the apatosaurus in our next meet on 24 May, 10am. - it will be a good opportunity to tell the kids about climate change...So since I started the yarnbombing, I have been scrummaging around my stash for some yarn scraps.  I needed to make 4x4 inch granny patches for the apatosaurus's scarf. I decided to unravel an old top that I had crocheted many years ago".... Read more

Tutorial at All Things Paper Blog

"The backstory... Linda Thalmann of Paperphine had sent me red/white and black/white paper yarn from Austria last year before Christmas and I'd used it on gift tags and ornaments..... which was all well and fine except that I've had it in mind ever since to actually make something with it, but what? When I happened upon this YouTube video by TyingItAllTogether that shows how to create an ingenious heart-shaped knot, I knew I'd found just the ticket".... Read more

I would not have guessed that this scarf was sewn
